Be Nicer to Your Hair

No one likes greasy hair, but that doesn’t mean you have to wash your hair every time you take a shower. Hair is often overlooked as something that needs to be taken care of. I know many people are conscientious of taking vitamins and using hair masks, but here are additional tips on keeping your locks as good as Rapunzel’s!
Stop washing your hair every day. You’re stripping it of natural oils that it needs to be healthy.
Hair masks are key, use them once a week. The help your hair repair from previous damage, can prevent future damage, and even help you with frizz. Try sleeping in a hair mask ( you can use coconut oil). Simply massage your locks from root to end with coconut oil, then wrap your hair in a towel - I’m sure no one wants oil-stained pillowcases. In the morning shampoo your hair, but do not condition it,(Your hair won’t need it). You can also use a leave-in conditioner, which is great for curly hair! It’ll help soften your hair, give it shine, it also makes it easier to brush your wet hair and lessen damage due to brushing your hair.
Stop over dry shampooing, I know, it’s tedious washing and drying, then using heat products and styling your hair. Over-using dry shampoo can cause buildup, pimples, and dermatitis. While we’re being honest, your hair also isn’t any cleaner, but now you also may smell like a chemical factory. Just wash your hair at this point. If you are worried about keeping your hairstyle last longer, invest in a boar bristle brush. The brush will help spread your hair’s natural oil evenly. Start from the top and work your way down to your ends. Your hair will be glossier and shinier and if you have fine hair it will add volume to your hair! It’s also a great detangler.
Don’t use heat products every day, this means straightening, curling, and blow drying. Blow drying is a convenience we have all come to love. I mean who doesn’t love a good blow out? But have you noticed your hair getting greasy after it? You're not imagining this. Blow drying makes your hair cuticles plump up, which ends up absorbing more oil from your scalp. If you’re in a time crunch and you have to blow dry your hair, start off with a heat protectant and try blow drying just your ends, and you will notice a difference, I promise. Same goes for straightening and curling, use heat protectants and your likelihood of getting split ends will diminish.
Get a trim, duh. Getting an occasional trim is good because it gets rid of the split ends. Trims improve your hair’s health and promote it to grow faster. (Guys, this applies to your hair and beard as well!) You will see a difference once you remove the dry and dead hair, your hair will feel softer and smoother.
Take some vitamins. Biotin is a go-to vitamin, it helps your hair AND your nails grow. Double win. Taking vitamin C or E is beneficial as well. You can even give yourself a vitamin E massage! You can either get a vitamin E scrub or create one on your own. Creating your own requires some vitamin E pills. Cut the ends of the pills, squeeze the oil directly to your scalp or in a bowl, then massage onto your scalp. Vitamin E increases blood circulation to your scalp; thus increasing hair growth. Vitamin E also helps your hair feel and look stronger and healthier. This may be a lot of work for the busy bees, so just eat omega-3 fatty acids, in pill or food form! Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in egg yolks, salmon, and Caesar salad dressing. Just have a salad for lunch and watch your hair flourish.
Sleep on a silk pillow. Silk pillowcases have a smoother surface which results in a reduction of friction. Friction is usually the main culprit for the bedhead and damaging your hair, resulting in split ends. ALSO LIFE HACK. Not only is it beneficial for your hair, but also for your skin. Silk pillows aid in preventing wrinkle since the surface is smoother. You can sleep on your face all you want!
